Story
Created at Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans in the 1940s to work through surplus rum stock — the name and hurricane-lamp glass became the bar's trademark.
Method
- 1Add everything except grenadine to an iced shaker.
- 2Shake for 12 seconds and strain into a highball over fresh ice.
- 3Slowly pour grenadine down the side to the bottom.
- 4Garnish with orange and a cherry.
