Syrups: how to choose and pair
102 syrup flavours in the BrandBar catalog can overwhelm even an experienced home bartender. Here's where to start and what to look for when choosing.
A starter set: a citrus one (lime or grapefruit), a berry one (strawberry or raspberry), a spiced one (ginger or cinnamon) and a mint one. That quartet covers 80% of classic cocktails.
Pairing rule: citrus loves mint and ginger, berries pair well with vanilla or basil, and spiced syrups shine in hot or spirit-forward drinks. Avoid mixing more than two bold flavours in one glass — one should lead, the other support.
Proportions: the classic base is 30–45 ml of syrup per 200–250 ml of liquid (soda, tonic, juice). For stronger versions, add 30–40 ml of spirit for the same amount of syrup. One bottle of BrandBar syrup is about 20 servings, so trying new flavours pays off.
